Microsoft Becomes Official Joomla! Contributor
A Joomla! developer blog has announced that Microsoft has signed the Joomla! Contributor Agreement (JCA).
Code from Microsoft will start appearing in version 1.6 of the Joomla! Web CMS. An example is WinCache, an extension that accelerates PHP applications running on Windows.
Microsoft's involvement was reported by Joomla! developer Sam Moffatt and Microsoft collaborator Josh Holmes in separate blogs. Moffatt's blog: "There, I said it. It feels like it should be so much more doesn't it? Don't worry, I won't end the blog post there."
Josh Holmes, self-described in his WordCamp speaker bio as "UX Architect Evangelist with Microsoft," advises developer business partners in that role in matters user experience and Rich Internet Application. He's "all excited" that the Microsoft legal department finally agreed to contribute to GPL code.
