Trolltech founder Chambe-Eng resigns because of illness
As the Norwegian development company announced, the cofounder of the company, Eirik Cambe-Eng, has quit his position as Co-CEO, for health reasons.
Haavard Nord, until now the second Co-CEO beside Chambe-Eng, will assume sole responsibility for the position as company chairman from November 2007. Norwegian law allows the combination with two CEO`s, which Trolltech had chosen until now.
Trolltech has commissioned a recruitment agency to find a Chief Operating Officer who will additionally take care of the company’s operative business. Eirik Chambe-Eng is staying with the company as a strategic mentor. Concerning his resignation he said, that he has been diagnosed as suffering from age-related macular degeneration (AMD). AMD is an illness that affects the eyes. The stress and the workload of a CEO are not compatible with this illness, said Chambe-Eng.
